Welcome message |
Dear friends and colleagues
We are very pleased to invite you to the 9th Annual Meeting of the European Venous Forum to be held in Barcelona from the 26th to the 28th of June 2008.
The annual meeting is an opportunity for exchange of knowledge in our field, but also an excepcional ocassion to meet not only our European partners, but people all over the world, who share the same interests. The venue is located in such a way that using public transport you will be able to visit Barcelona comfortably and rapidly. Besides, June is a ideal for sunbathing, as the weather is warm and the temperature is pleasant. In other word you must come to Barcelona otherwise you are going to miss a lot.
I still remember the thrive of people like Andrew Nicolaides and Michel Perrin in Lyon founding the European Venous Forum with a main objective, putting the vein in science. Quality was and still is the motto. After 9 years of constant and arduous work I think the EVF has achieved, by far, this end. Moreover, we have managed to involve people from all over the world, along with the European Centers, therefore Andrew our congratulations.
The format we think appropriate for the Barcelona meeting is the tripartite model. In other words, we want all those people who are working hard and well in the venous field no matter what their specialty. In this sense I would like to thank, Manel Monreal, Ramon Pujol, Jose Escudero for their help and understanding in making the tripartite meeting possible.
This year we have incorporated the Live Cases Session, led by Nicos Labropoulos. The aim of this session is to have interaction with the audience as to the live cases shown on stage.
We hope that you will participate in this Meeting and submit for presentation your most recent scientific work in the rapidly evolving field of venous disease.
Your interaction with your colleagues from many different countries will stimulate a creative exchange of ideas and will be personally rewarding.
I look forward to welcome to this high quality event and to the exciting and beautiful city of Barcelona.
Yours sincerely,

Marc Cairols MD. PhD, FRCS (Lond).
